It will boot if there is no USB cable attached, and the sytem runs up, it will hang the moment a USB cable is inserted to a connected PC, Wifi doesn't function.

If I start in recovery, I can get a serial console and log in as root.

I have managed to flash a system from the SD card, however the only system image I can find is 1.04, which is no use to me. I guess my only way to bring back functionality is:

a) find a system TGZ of 1.07
b) find a kernel of 1.04 (and work out how to flash it).

Anyone know an easy way to get this reader functional again? Thanks. I have the update file for 1.07, PRS-T1 Updater.package I can't run the updater EXE, as the unit hangs when USB is connected.

Is there a way of extracting the encrypted filesystem from this file, or applying the file system update from SD card ?
IMHO, it's time to give up the T1 and get a Kobo Libra 2 or Kobo Clara BW. The T1 is old, slow, low-res, old version of Android, and doing what you want is maybe impossible.
