And also many promo codes seem to be one-use only to start with, especially the ones that are six random digits/letters, like X34B56, rather than something like a birthday or anniversary code, like BIRTHDAY22. So if someone else has used it -i.e. if you see it posted here on MR, or some other board somewhere, rather than being sent directly to you, but someone else got to it first - then it won't work a second time. That's why in the days of more Kobo coupon codes, people would come back to this thread and let folks know that a posted code had been used.
And, I keep pretty good records of Kobo promo codes that I've used, and I've even caught them sending me the same code more than once - that's more a while ago than recently, but...
