I think what the thread is about is that some calibre tools to modify an epub, results in the original file being renamed as filename.original_epub. Say I have a book stored in a file called Idle Thoughts.epub and decide to run Polish on it. After Polish runs, I now have a file called Idle Thoughts.epub and a file called Idle Thoughts.original_epub. Oddly, when you run Polish again, it will use the original_epub file as the input.
