Same here with the Libra Colour. This kind of negates their boast of 'No glare in sunlight, no notifications—just you and your book in full-colour bliss.'
You DON'T want to go out into the sun! Paradoxically, the brighter the ambient light the worse it gets. As soon as the light outshines the front light the screen turns a dull gray.
When the front light is brighter than the ambient the background is whitish and looks ok.
