2nd page of Dev options, there is "CFA Mode" you can try different modes for the Colour filter. The S options seems to mostly be about saturation, S9 was rather extreme oversaturation. I did not spend much time comparing all the options.

This may reduce the full range of color, or posterize as Quoth has pointed out, but it’s a good find. Thanks!

Here is my comparison of default vs S9. I don’t know why mobileread rotated the images. Light is at 100% for both shots.

You can see that the shadows get a color burst in the second image (S9), but I wouldn’t call it a favorable change. The shadows are now washed out, and the watercolor washes are splotchy. Do we know what S value default is?
