Chapter progression

Hi all,

I just acquired my first Kobo, a Clara BW after a decade with Bookeen (RIP).

I'm mainly using it for web serials via FFF, and I'm struggling with Kobo resetting the reading position to the cover when I finish a book, making it a moderate pain to continue where I left off when the book gets updated with new chapters.

My current workaround is to convert to .kepub and use the precise page numbering to make sure not to actually close the book. It technically works, but I now have to deal with all my books staying at 99% read, making it hard to know which books I've actually finished...

I know that this plugin's original author is no longer with us, but I wanted to know whether someone else was working on an enhancement for this particular issue, before I fire up PyCharm and start tinkering on it myself? Or maybe a better workaround/workflow?

My plan is to start by trying to add a new "Last chapters count" column alonside the 4 original custom columns. This would allow for something of a progression indicator in the absence of useful information in the "current reading location" column, maybe in conjuction with the "subtitle" metadata from the KoboTouch driver.

If I'm successful, I'll see if I can hitchhike on the ToC update function and reset a reading position to the start of the new ToC, if the book is marked as "read". That probably won't be easy for cases where the ToC update is something more involved than just appending new chapters, but at least it'll be better that just "read again from the start".
