I used to install Grocery POS and supplied the first day on site support.

Turns out, the vendor in China made up the code and it started with a 2.
2 is a special group (Random Weight): The first 5 is for the item (Eg Cheder cheese) and the last 5 is set to be either the weight or the dollars.
All sorts of insanity happens when they cheat to
save money
(It is even worse when they cheated with a
valid code from another product and the
Weights and Measures fines them for WRONG SCANNER PRICING (or they are 'giving away, an expensive item because a cheap price came up).
