I prefer lightning to micro USB. I appreciate the ease of connecting lightning.

I'm a little surprised you think mini USB would be "better". Wasn't it already being phased out in favor of micro USB. I don't think firewire would have been a wise choice for PC users; an additional cost for the majority.
