A friend asked me what would be the practical use of this function, and I must say I was unable to answer :-) (out of a stalinist revision of ebooks about history ;p)
Or an Enid Blyton sanitisation

One use for list search and replace (selectively) is to correct commonly confused/misused words - effect/affect, there/their/they're, accept/except/impact. I also use list search and replace in translate and/or transcribe jobs.

But I would not do any of those jobs using an EPUB editor.

I have several off the shelf tools for MS Word that do list S&R en-masse and/or selectively - TransTools, KuTools, ePubTools, and Word itself via its Autocorrect feature.
