Even so OEBPS in 1998 could have added headers & footers. Make a 5″ by 3.75″ paper size on your OS for printer. Select as default.
In Firefox etc, go Print Preview. You now have a paginated website with headers, footers and page numbers.

Why has no-one done a Codex Plugin that does this using current window size as "virtual printer page", and for extra points make it interactive? Oddly the Kindle DXG web browser does this, which is nice, but the problem is that otherwise it was junk, partly because eink, partly because it was poor. Now totally useless.

Yet you have sites like BBC news, that should know better, that auto chain all the previous articles on topic into one forever scroll. I can't see a way to disable it. Disabling scripts totally breaks 1st article content.

How did we get here?
