You'll struggle to find a simple mp3 player device that supports M4B files. And if you find one, it likely won't play them well and will have a tiny screen that's hard to read and navigate.
I think you'd be better off with a budget Android phone for this purpose.
The "Smart Audiobook player" app will play M4B files.
