(My worry about a lack of routine is personal. I know some people thrive living in a chaotically spontaneous fashion. I just don't think I'd be one of them.)
Define place? House? Town? Country? I suppose it doesn't matter for me, I also live very humbly. I don't need or purchase much other than that which covers my basic needs. Reading and hiking makes me happy, both pursuits being relatively inexpensive.
