That's the reason I prefer separate devices. To me, in the above situation the User should be able to return the device because it is malfunctioning.
It's the same issue when you buy an all-in-one stereo system. It's convenient until one of the components break, then you have to take the whole thing in for repair.
Worse, I had an component system made by one company. Unfortunately, soon every component of it except for the tuner stopped working properly. Since then, when it comes to audio I intentionally buy a mutt system, with every component coming from a different manufacturer.
