Bricked Libra 2, any hope? White screen of death

My 16 months old Libra 2 got bricked when I restarted it after it was having trouble connecting to WIFI.

Yesterday it had a white screen with a flashing white light on the front, tried all the methods of resetting to no avail, charged it for 24 hours, tried connecting to PC and Android phone. The phone recognizes it but the pop up goes away within a second and it doesn't offer to connect as charging VS data like normal.

Today I popped off the back cover and pulled the SD card. It reads on my PC OK with the files, but after reinstalling it in the Libra, I can't get the libra to cycle on at all. No more blinking light, no recognition. The phone still recognizes that something is plugged in, but nothing else.

Anyone have experience or know how to get this thing back to life? Rakuten won't replace it as it's 4 months out of warranty. It's practically brand new otherwise, and it seems like an update or software bug bricked it (other users have reported similar issues when after an update), so IMO it's their fault, but no love from them at all.
