One writer of The Incredible Hulk, Peter David, described The Hulk as a form of cancer, specifically a growth of cells, wouldn't that be where The Hulk's extra mass comes from? Didn't it also explain how The Hulk can do those miles-long jumps without his legs shattering (they do shatter but then heal instantly)?
