I'd imagined if possible at all, it would have involved reading a file from the innards of Pocketbook app install, editing it and writing it back, and hoping Pocketbook wasn't running!

So far I've escaped database corruption on current firmware on the Kobos I manage (includes, Libra, Libra2, Sage and Elipsa. Occasionally a Nia).
