He or she is a Carpet Python. They grow to about 2.5-3 metres and are pretty common. We had a smaller one on our bottom balcony a few months ago, but just let it be as it could easily find it's way into the garden again.

Not venemous, and with backward facing fangs. They're pretty safe, except to smaller animals.

The chairs are just some teak bought from a local furniture place specialising in SE Asian stuff. I like them and, being teak, expect them to last a long time.
