It would be interesting to know if the data collected is anonymous. I could see the case that it is not so that they present purchasing decisions that would be relevant to you. Regardless, what Amazon or Kobo etc can learn about me on my ereader pales in comparison what Apple, Google, Samsung, Netflix, Mozilla, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, etc routinely can learn. A fun thing to do is read the EULA and terms of service of just about anything.
