I completely understand what you are saying with that... however I am guilty of the other end of the coin as well. as a young PFC in Germany, I was one of the only soldiers going to nightschool. my bookshelf, that I had to get special permission to have, was populated with numerous historical and philisophical tracts. those titles got me a LOT of mileage when my area wasn't 100% during inspections.
