The legend of the shadow on groundhog day is an interesting proposition. Supposedly, if the groundhog sees its shadow, winter will last for six more weeks. But, if it doesn't see its shadow, we'll have an early spring. The problem is -- in my neighborhood at least -- only six more weeks of winter would still be an early spring.
So, no. It's harmless fun, but I'm not a believer.
