Yes to both.
I don't know how safe it is to jailbreak a Kindle, or even if you can do it at all with a brand new device. I didn't jailbreak my Kindles when I used them, but converted my epubs to azw3.
If you're going to use KOReader anyway, then the Kobo Libra 2 has the best screen and contrast of the three.
