No laughing matter Neil. Aussie fruit bat crap won't kill humans directly, but the virus it carries can infect horses from where it can transmit to humans in close proximity e.g vets, nurses, horse stud employees etc. It's deadly to both horses and humans… fortunately there's a vaccine for horses.
So next time you're down under make sure any horses you ride are up to date with their Hendra shots**… and never whisper a horse you don't know
