Given that Kobo Plus is a lending program, removing DRM is not an option that I would consider. Removing DRM from books I own is something I am entirely happy to do. Removing DRM from library, Kindle Unlimited, Kobo Plus and any other loans is not acceptable—I am unable to stretch my mind enough to claim that I own those books.

As Apprentice Alf's blog stated:

Please only use these tools for gaining full access to your own ebooks for archiving/conversion/convenience. De-drmed ebooks should not be uploaded to open servers, torrents, or other methods of mass distribution. No help will be given to people doing such things. Authors, retailers and publishers all need to make a living, so that they can continue to produce books for us to read. Don’t be a parasite.
If you are still determined to go ahead, there are a couple of workarounds but you are going to have to find them for yourself.

One other nit is that Kobo Plus ebooks are already in ePub format. Just with quite a few added spans used for locations for hightlights, annotations, etc. which should not have any effect on reading the book on a non-Kobo device or using Kobo's RMSDK renderer.
