My guinea pigs have always been indoor pets, although I do have a run that I can set up for them outside when the weather is nice. (At my parent's house as I currently have no garden.) They live in a "cubes and & coroplast" cage, which are cages that you can easily make yourself. I usually redesign ours once a year.

I've luckily never had that problem.

All my guinea pig males have always been uh...very blessed in that department, so there was never a question about what gender they were.

There's actually no chance of my current herd being able to multiple, as Porky is neutered (he came from a rescue that neuters all boars). He doesn't seem to notice though.

I hope that the same applies for us! One of the first changes that is going to happen when we move (next year) is add a dog to our family.
