FWIW, I'm getting the same error on Windows 10 Pro with calibre 7.3:

Code:
calibre, version 7.3.0
ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device

Failed to create the folder: NOOK in ('Internal shared storage',) with error: C:\r\src\src\calibre\devices\mtp\windows\content_enumeration.cpp:619:Failed to create folder:[hr=0x80004005 wCode=0] Unspecified error

wpd.WPDError: C:\r\src\src\calibre\devices\mtp\windows\content_enumeration.cpp:619:Failed to create folder:[hr=0x80004005 wCode=0] Unspecified error

The above exception was the direct cause of the following exception:

And now, they just discontinued their windows app. So we have no way of getting our purchased books into Calibre. I really wanted to support B&N but I’m not putting up with this. Switching back to Kobo ereaders and getting my books from the Library or ebooks.com.
Yeah, I'm leaning that way myself. With Barnes & Noble closing off the Glowlight 4 Plus a couple of months ago, discontinuing their Windows program, and leaving the Glowlight 4 Plus out of stock for weeks and supposedly for months in the future, it's clear that they don't really care about the Nook.
