I am unsure if my Kindle is now jailbroken. I ran into some issues that are detailed below but ultimately was able to install KUAL and can open KUAL on the Kindle. I think that means it is jailbroken? But I'm unsure. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
I get the error in the photo after clicking 'Done' in step 3. I don't remember getting this the very first time I did this. From what I remember after I clicked 'Done' it was just a blank screen for 30 seconds or so. But I don't specifically remember.
The first time I did this I had to do the 'Special Gesture' to unlock the device. Everytime since then, it does not have me do the 'Special Gesture'. It will just play the slide show for 10ish seconds then automatically unlock the device.
Regarding Steps 10-12. The first time I did this it showed the 'Press the Power Button' screen and I plugged my Kindle into the PC, copied the files again and chose to Overwrite All duplicate files. Ejected then unplugged device. I then held the power button down for at least a minute and a half or two minutes with no response from the device. I then let go of the power button and tried again and then it rebooted.
When I got to the language selection screen I chose Chinese and the device rebooted. I did see the log message in the corner on reboot. When it came back up the device was in English. This is where I deviated from the instructions as I thought something had gone wrong. In hindsight I probably should have continued following the instruction but I decided to try the whole process over at step 1. All other attempts have not shown this language selection screen. Nor do I see the log message. Now after I hold the power button the Kindle goes straight to the 'Home' Screen and I am no longer still in demo mode.
After trying a second time and experiencing the aformentioned deviations. I then tried factory resetting the Kindle and then tried from step 1 once more. This time after still experiencing the deviations I decided to just go ahead and continue with the steps.
Since it no longer will stay in demo mode after the 'Press the Power Button' step, I went ahead and tried installing the Hotfix anyway. It fails. I then went back into demo mode via ;enter_demo and tried installing the Hotfix that way. I appeared to install successfully. Screen displayed the update success screen and upon reboot the bottom of the display showed a ***MKK KEYS*** message. When the Kindle finished booting I am no longer in demo mode. I check for the 'mkk' folder that should be in the root directory but it is not there.
However, since the Hotfix appeared to install fine I tried installing KUAL. This appears to have installed correctly which I assume means the jailbreak worked, right? I also installed KOReader to the Kindle and I can see it in KUAL. However, KOReader won't load when I click it.
