PRS700 Battery Life
It looks like this is an old topic for some of you, but I thought I would add a few comments.
I bought the Sony PRS700 at the end of January 2009. I didn't think much about the battery life until it started being dead when I tried to turn it on. After that, I started keeping an eye on the battery bar.
Consistently, the meter goes down one notch after about 250 page-turns. Another bar at 500 pages, and so forth. My battery life is only about 1000 page-turns. I don't use the light, audio, or memory card. However, I do add notes to the books (the reason I bought 700 instead of 500).
I was charging with the USB cord, so I bought the Sony charger. Still the same battery life behavior. With my reading, the battery lasts about 1 week.
I would probably be okay with that if Sony didn't claim 7500 page-turns as being normal for a full charge. They set it up so that I now think something is wrong.
I tried to work with Sony support but it hasn't worked out well (I'm not even sure that my online chat was with a real human).
My PRS700 is under warranty, but Sony's idea of fixing the problem is exchanging my new book reader for an old refurbished unit that has already had problems in the past. That doesn't sound like a good solution to me.
I'm not sure there is really anything wrong with the battery -- Sony may have just set the bar too high in its marketing claims.
