Really? Thanks for the info. I just watched Chalid Raqimi's review of the Ellipsa 2E and he said that connecting it to a kobo account is mandatory, and that you need a kobo account to use it. So I guess you can avoid that by enabling sideload mode before any initial setup with an account etc?
