As for not finding an ISBN - well the plugin hasnt changed at all so the only variables are the book you are choosing to scan and the calibre version. Not every book will be able to have it's ISBN found as has been talked about ad nauseum on this thread (or even necessarily have one present). If it is a book you are certain you scanned for ISBN in the past and it worked, then downgrade calibre and confirm you are correct. If so then it is a calibre 7 created problem...
