A folder system would be useless to me. Often I remember neither the author nor the title, only the genre and vaguely something of the synopsis. In calibre I can still find the book either by sorting various custom columns or by searching for keywords in the comments; I'd never find it in any folder-based system.

And yes, I had the same problem with paper books, although I had vastly fewer of those than I have ebooks. Sometimes I had to search my shelves for an hour or more. Not an experience I'm eager to recreate.

How old is "old enough"? I saw my first computer when I was 25; internet came a few years later. I have no taste for physical experience in my digital life. None whatsoever.
