Yes. Your description struck me as being much like many pot boilers I've read. Not bad but not a book you are going to pick up again.

In a desperate attempt to appear on topic, I'm currently watching some of the biggest money loser movies which a friend of mine suggested as a group thing. I made it through Mortal Engines and am working on Terminator: Dark Fate with Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets as the next up. I'm not sure where James generated his list from but so far I can see why the first two movies ran out of red ink for their balance sheets.
