You can add non ebook files of any type to any book, but only one of any type - i.e one MP3, one PPTX, etc. Simplest way is to drag and drop the file(s) into the Book Details panel.
I get the impression you want to use calibre in an education institution, can you confirm that?
Calibre organises books via a relational database, the author & book folders and files in a calibre library are nothing more than a convenient storage mechanism.
Read the Frequently Asked Questions section of the calibre User Manual and the sticky threads at the top of this subforum.

Thank you for sharing your information and your interest. I am a huge admirer of the caliber and I believe that the author of the project is going very far.
About your first response regarding appointments. I found an alternative way to indicate the books we are reading, want to read, etc., by adding a column with these indications. Then just use the search and that's it. I still think that the caliber should have an official way of having these functions.
I already thought about using it in one of the schools where I work, but I gave up on the idea because I thought it still lacked administration resources. This function of sharing caliber on the same network is still very limited. However, I believe that the author is capable of strengthening Caliber. I see more and more interest in this type of software, even more so that digital books are increasingly a reality.
Hug!
