Do you have the .img file for the kobo aura N236 version 2?
I seem to remember that if you use the USB Duplicator Image Writer tool under Windows, if you select all files in the file select, you can treat that .iso as a .img file.

Personally, I feel it's unlikely that your V1 has a V2 motherboard but nothing to lose by trying.
