Neither does Sony mention that you can't read books bought from either Amazon, meant for the Kindle, or from eReader. Does all this mean Sony is lying or is deceptive? No, of course not. Bottom line: manufacturers don't have to tell you what their products don't do.

That said, I do prefer the way Sony lists their supported formats to Ectaco's.

My advice? Do your homework.
If the 505 could search, it would have been mentioned. What Sony does mention is what formats have DRM and what formats do not. So you know what you can and cannot do as far as purchasing content goes.

In this case, what Ectaco is doing is not giving the consumers enough information to be able to make an informed decision. People who read MR can find out about the Jetbook and know wat it can and cannot do and they are then informed and that's fine. But if the average person who doesn't know about DRM sees the Jetbook on Ectaco's website, they may think it's for them when in fact it may not be. The forum they have for requesting free eBooks doesn't say you won't be getting say The Lord of the Rings just be requesting it.

Unlimited. 30 popular WEB sites that we have located hold at least 500,000 FREE access books and audiobooks. You can also request a title from us which we will find and send to you right away.
That is deceptive. Go ahead and request Twilight and see how fast you don't get it.

Please read the following for a diagnosis of their comparison chart for the Sony. They picture a 500 and mix up the 500 with the 505.
