I have better things to do with my time, thank you very much.

The version of Qt calibre 7 uses does not build without a certain version of xcode and xcode which is from the afore mentioned trillion dollar company requires certain versions of macOS to run.

Now it *may* be possible to build all of qt which includes all of chromium and all the other ~100 dependencies of calibre on Ventura in a way that it *might* run on versions of macOS older than ventura, but then I would need to run those versions and test on them those OSes and I am not going to do that. I can commit to supporting *current* macos releases which thanks to apple means about two releases at a time. Beyond that, feel free to build calibre and its dependencies yourself. Or maybe, just maybe, ditch apple for a company that cares about you.
I apologize. I was not attempting to criticize you or the work you do, which has been amply and justly praised. I am merely disappointed that it is the case. I appreciate your explanation of the reason behind it, and I get that you are constrained by the circumstances. I wasn't trying to imply YOU were throwing us under the bus (you've never done before), merely that the confluence of events is doing so. (I said "seemed" because I didn't know the reasons behind it.) You may now, as they say in TeX, \relax.
