There might be another way to “block” updates, needs testing.
I put it in quotes, because it makes the update process fail with Error U007.

On 4PDA forum I described a long time ago how to block the userstore_reset and shipping_mode binaries that are activated by search commands:

Doing so caused any regular FW fail because the system hash sum is now wrong, and it spat out U007 error. However, this was on the old FW 5.9.7. I don’t know what ways things changed since then, but the idea might be useful.

So even if Amazon found a new way to load OTA updates, we might still have a chance to prevent the installation of them.
