That highlighting behaviour is caused by bad formatting in the book. I've had it happen in one of my books, too.

You can indeed back up the sqlite file and restore it later. You'll want NickelMenu installed so you can reboot the device immediately after replacing the database file and ejecting, to ensure you don't get any weirdness with the restored backup not matching whatever database state your Libra has in memory at the time you do the swap.
