If you are downloading from the menu options on Kobo, you will either get an ePub file which not DRMmed or a .acsm file which using Adobe's DRM scheme which DeDRM works with.. If you sync books from Kobo, you will get a kepub which uses Kobo's own DRM which the OBOK plugin works with.
