As for your first post and Onyx, I just looked at the Boox dates and all other infos, I highly doubt it is compatible but who knows. For everyone interested, there should be
power_enhance_enable entry in the
/data/system/users/0/settings_system.xml file. If it is then the script might be compatible. My current high probability guess is MobiScribe hardware since they explicitly mention this entry in their SDK.
I also see that you're very serious about your clock and how punctual it is

From what I saw, theoretically it's possible to wake sooner that tap or press events come. But this would require more time to investigate and meanwhile not very high on my priority list, also because my usual per page reading time is less than a minute so I'm ok with the clock being a little off-time
