A couple of days ago I treated myself to a new pair of Dr. Martens boots (1460 in crazy horse leather). But now I have to break them in.
I've got insoles and that has helped with most of the movement (a size smaller is too small, then my toes are up against the front). Most of the wearing in is stretching the leather, it's a bit tight on the top of my feet. The biggest problems is that my heels are very narrow, so with any shoe I buy I move around a lot. With DMs it'll cause blisters. Once the leather at the back of the heels softens with wear it'll be fine, but until then I'll put sports tape (similar to moleskine tape, but a bit tougher) on my heels, today I have triple layer. I might go and buy the Dr Martens socks with thicker fabric on certain parts of the sock to help with breaking in new shoes.
I'm going to do my chores with my boots on and see how long I can stand to wear them. I hope I can wear them when viewing houses next week, but I'm bringing my sneakers with me just in case.
