By the way: A jail-break is always exploiting a serious security failure on the device to affect a right escalation. So once known it will have to be fixed also for security reasons.
That also means that jailbreaking a device will usually require a somewhat complicated downgrade -> jailbreak -> upgrade process. Annoying. The only way to avoid this is to avoid vendor-lock-in devices such as the kindle.
That is also why "please make a jailbreak for x.x.x" won't work. A jailbreak appears, when a critical security flaw is found. This is then exploited and the version will be updated to fix this.
