Yeah - us horror fans have it made with a few settings - of course woods, ocean, space, and naturally abandoned (or non abandoned is worse??) asylums

With Lumley, I actually did read the first two books in Necroscope series in paperback form, still have those old things around somewhere I think. Was an unusual experience. Sometimes I was absolutely hooked and couldn't put it down, sometimes it was out there. I did hear the series gets even stranger and didn't sound like something I'd enjoy. To try it again someday I'd need to re-read those two books first since I've forgotten too much otherwise.

There are some scenes in thsoe books that have stayed with me all these years, though. He did write good characters.
