@Martinoptic: Yeah, I love looking things up in dictionaries (as most of the posters in this thread have likely already guessed) and, at one time, my friends banned me from playing Trivial Pursuit with them.
Not sure if the terpsitone was an improvement on the theremin but the dancer controlled the sound by the movement of their body. The terpsitone could also control coloured lights.
