Don't forget about Disney refusing to pay royalties to
all authors of
Star Wars novels after buying the IP from George Lucas. As of May of last year,
they were still doing so, only paying big name authors when they publicly shamed them.
It's likely they're still not paying any but the biggest authors who have the clout to force the issue. I doubt Foster's interested in negotiating with them thanks to that and even if he was Disney clearly isn't interested in paying him more.
I'd recommend not buying
any novels where Disney owns the IP. The author probably isn't making any money from it, even if they should be.
