Hey folks,
I have a
PW2 (7th gen) from 2017 that has never been updated - until recently. Unfortunately, my wife has logged into a hotel wifi and the Kindle received an update to
5.16.2.1.1.
I was about to convert it to a smart home control panel but with the damn screensaver it seems useless for such a project.
Question: Can this hardware JB be used (as a first step) to convert my PW2 5.16.2.1.1 into a Kindle that has an always on screen (preferrably in kiosk/fullscreen mode)?
I have managed to boot into SDP mode every now and then. However, I have not been able to flash the device using Linux or Windows.
Linux:
dmesg

Windows:
MfgTool detects the device but either stops at "Loading uboot" or something like that and with a partially filled blue progress bar at the top (and no progress in the bottom) or with a 1/3 filled red bar at the top and a full red bar at the bottom and the following error message:
Code:
"Boot" body="BootStrap" error, file="C:\Users\coma\Downloads\Popcorn - Hardware Jailbreak Windows Version\Wario\Profiles\Linux\OS Firmware\u-boot.bin"
I have tried payloads from #1 by katadelos, #13 by ygjsz and #72 by beyonik.
Have I completely misunderstood something? Are the bins for PW3 and PW2 the same (wario)?
I'd be glad if you could give me a hint as I'm new to the Kindle JB game.
Thanks in advance
