Fixed the problem, all you have to do is copy the dictionary zip into the dictionary folder and eject the device.
Why there are countless other threads, tools, and tutorials instructing people to do otherwise is beyond me, as I wasted 4 days trying to figure this out patching this editing that customising SQL tables changing firmwares when all I had to do was copy and paste the file. Hopefully this thread will be useful to someone in the future to save them the agony of what I've just put myself through.
I also pasted in custom wikitionary dictionaries which work perfectly along with the normal v3 dictionary.
Can someone please post me the link for the Spanish v3 monolingual dictionary, the link in the main thread is broken. Cheers
