Earlier this year I got a KOA that came with a firmware compatible with watchthis. It's been so long since I had a kindle that I forgot it would force an update. I wasn't happy when it did update a few minutes after initial setup. Needless to say, when I got my scribe a couple of months ago, I set it up with my phone's Hotspot and limited the net speed to barely fast enough for the signin process out of paranoia. Now it sits on 5 16.1 in airplane mode. To be honest, I haven't seen a reason to update it anyway. Just waiting on kual and koreader so I don't have to convert my manga anymore.
