Yes, I get that. I mean many things thought to be conspiracy are either stupidity if a real thing at all, or not even a thing.
The UK Media still slobbers over Apple launches as if no-one else makes phones. But unlike Kindles, the Apple phones are maybe 90% margin. Certainly overpriced and there is no actual phone service that doesn't work as well or better with other phones. I've an Oppo bought last year (under €200) that has dual SIM and micro-SD all in one tray (I've 256G in it), USB-C, 3G RAM & 32G Flash built in, 3 camera sensors, and a real 3.5mm phone jack. It's had FW updates too. No UK or Irish media reviews anything other than Apple.
At least the Kindles are competitively priced (probably because they more interested in selling ebooks) and let you load ebooks directly (the iPhone direct sideloading only works with 3rd party apps), though locally PC controlled features are less than early models. The MTP + KFX is a bad look.
