It's like that other post.
It's true of LCD and Eink panels.
Dropping a device starts the process of delaminating the layers in the panel at an edge.
I can't say whether it's corrosion of the transparent electrodes or simply propagation of the delamination.
Over time it will usually get worse.
I believe dead pixels are more statistical.
Lone pixels won't infect their neighbors.
