Not true. There are several reasons why you might use Kobo Utilities, replace the ebook and use Kobo Utilities again.

However your idea can be tried if the Kobo Utilities are used first to backup the info.
Sorry, but wrong. Kobo Utilities has nothing to do with replacing the eBook unless you need to update the ToC. Also, why are you repeating what I've just posted? The cover will not vanish. That's never happened with a replaced eBook. No need to reboot. Please don't confuse the OP with incorrect information.
